TRAINING FOR GOVERNMENT STAFF IN SIERRA LEONEINDEPENDENT SP COLLABORATES WITH GIZ AND VALE COLUMBIA CENTER IN PROVIDING TRAINING

During the week of the 19th to the 23rd May 2014, in Sierra Leone’s capital city Freetown, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH organized and co-developed with the Vale Colombia Center on Sustainable Investment a training titled “Getting a Good Deal from Oil and Mining: An Introduction to Legal and Fiscal Frameworks” for Sierra Leone Government Ministry staff and trainers. Independent Social Performance’s Director and Cordaid Associate, Jordon Kuschminder was invited to provide a two-part training session on “Local Communities: The Challenges and Perceptions of Local Community Relationships in the Extractive Industry.” Independent SP would like to thank both the participants and GIZ for the highly participative and engaging sessions.
